First Hair Cut

No more mop head or bed head! We finally gave Pres a little haircut. This was such a bittersweet day. On one hand, I hated the thought of cutting any of the hair that was on her head the day she was born. I just kept thinking that what I was cutting was what I had kissed a thousand times in the hospital last August. But I knew she would look so much better with her hair even all the way around.
She had the cutest curl on the right side of her head, but for some reason all the hair on the left side of her head was so short. It was so uneven and really needed to at least look symmetrical. As sad as it was to cut her hair, I knew that even with that sweet little curl gone, she would still be the most beautiful baby I had ever seen.
So after weeks of talking about it and putting it off, we finally bit the bullet and cut her hair. I was so incredibly proud of her. She did so well! I was really scared to actually cut it, so I took it off about 1/8 inch at a time. She patiently let me cut away until we got to an even length all the way around.
I know it sounds silly, but Blaine and I can see a total difference in her hair. I know most people probably can't (since we only took off about 1/4'' of one side of her head), but she looks completely different and grown up now. She is such a doll and we love her so much!

The curl (notice it's only on one side)

First cut

It's all even! Isn't she beautiful?

So sweet!

And for those of you wondering (mostly those of you whose names are Mimi or Grammi), NO we did not keep the hair!

Big Girl Walking Shoes

Since Presley is walking more than crawling these days, we decided it was time to go get her some big girl shoes. We went to the mall and picked out two pair of toddler walking shoes. They are so cute! It took every ounce of restraint I had not to buy her 5 or 6 pairs. I only got two pair, but can't wait to go back in a couple of months and get her some more. If anyone is curious, she is a 4 wide (yep, she has her daddy's feet) at Stride Rite. I also got her some cute little socks to go with her new shoes. She's such a big girl now!

11 Months and Eating Cake

We celebrated Presley's 11 month birthday last Sunday. I can't believe this is her last "month birthday" before the big one! Every month is always a different theme, so since it's July, we went with an American flag and used fresh strawberries and blueberries (Presley's favorite). We decided to let her practice tearing into her cake, so she'll know what to do when we let her do it at her birthday party next month.

I think we both thought we would barely be able to put the cake down in front of her before she would tear into it and shove strawberry cake in her mouth as fast as she could. To our surprise, and in perfect Presley fashion, she just looked at the cake for a while and then very gently picked one blueberry from the top to eat. This wasn't quite what we were hoping for...so we gave her a little help and she finally got the hang of it. It was so cute watching her eat her birthday cake. I think she liked it, but she kept going back to the blueberries. That's my healthy little girl!

So yummy!!!

Laundry Baby!

Anyone ever wonder how we are able to keep up with all of our laundry ? It's because I have a little helper who LOVES when the laundry comes right out of the dryer. She's not much help with folding (she pretty much just unfolds everything I fold), but she sure does make it fun to take the laundry out of the dryer!

Look how relaxed she is on the pile of warm clothes.

She's so beautiful, even while doing the laundry.

4th of July Weekend

We had such a great weekend celebrating the 4th of July. We started with our block party on the 3rd. Blaine woke up early and started smoking brisket and ribs for our neighborhood celebration...and as always, his BBQ was amazing! Presley had a blast playing with all our friends and family.

The next day we went to Aunt Nikki and Uncle Cody's house for a craw fish boil and to celebrate the 4th...again! We dressed Pres up in all her patriotic gear and she looked adorable. She had a cute little 4th of July red tank top, blue jean shorts, white sandals, and of course a big red bow.

She got to show off her new "walking" skills and had a blast playing with her cousins. It was such a great holiday weekend!
