Beckett's First Swim Lesson

Beckett started swim lessons this month.  He's in the infant swim class at Nitro and has the same teacher, Ms. Bonnie, that Presley had for her first two years.  It was so much fun getting to do this class again.  For two years, I got in the pool with Pres every Thursday morning for our Mommy and Me class and now I get to do it all over again with Mr. Becks!

How cute is he in his little baby wet suit?!?

Chasing the balls around is definitely his favorite part.

He's a natural at floating on his back!

I think we might have another little water baby on our hands.  Getting his face wet, or even going under water, doesn't seem to bother him at all!

While Becks and I are in one side of the pool, Presley has her swim lesson on the other side!

I had so much fun with my little guy!

24 Months Of Cake

As I'm sure you've seen over the last couple of years on this blog, I've always made a monthly birthday cake for both kids and celebrated these monthly milestones until they turned one.
Our tradition of making the kids their monthly birthday cake was definitely not preplanned.

On Presley's one month birthday, I happened to meet some friends for coffee that morning.  Starbucks was right next to H-E-B, so I thought it would be fun to go next door and pick everything to make a cake.  Blaine and I had planned to have an at home date night that evening, so I thought this would be a fun dessert.

Well, month two rolled around and I hadn't planned on making a cake, but that day I started to feel so guilty that I had celebrated her first month but not her second...so I made another cake.  The rest is history and for 12 months, I made a cake every month on the 18th.

Below are all of Presley's monthly birthday cakes!

After I made Presley's last cake, I told myself that I would never do this again.  It was a lot of work each month and took up way more time that I had thought it would. Plus, if we ever had another baby, surely I wouldn't have the time to make these cakes every month. I talked myself into believing that this would be something special I did just for Presley since she was our first born.

Whatever!  Who was I kidding???  I would feel so guilty if I didn't do the same for sweet little Becks.  He deserved to be celebrated each month just as we had done for his sister. So, on 2/23/12 I marched right back into the kitchen and started the process all over again.

Below are all of Beckett's monthly cakes!

Some of these cakes were really fun to decorate, but in truth, I dreaded doing most of them.  It took so much time (time I really couldn't spare with a toddler and a newborn).  Plus, my hand would cramp for hours after decorating each one.  But I did it every month by telling myself that one day I would miss this.  That one day I would give anything to have my sweet babies little again and making their birthday cakes.

Beckett will be 13 months next week and there will be no cake.  I'm a little sad about this, but so glad I did this for both my kids.  It was worth every burn I received, every hand cramp I had to massage out, and every calorie I took in.  And, looking back now...it was time very well spent!

Soccer Star

Pres started playing winter soccer a couple of weeks ago.  We go every Saturday to the park by our house for soccer practice.  She really likes it and is actually better than most of the boys who are older than she is.

Here are some pics of our little soccer star in action!
