Presley's First Birthday Party

I can't believe a whole year has already gone by since our sweet little baby girl was born. It seems like just yesterday that I was holding her in my arms for the very first time. This has been such an amazing year, and to celebrate we threw Presley and fabulous first birthday party. The theme was "La Petite Boulangerie" which translates to little {french} bakery. It was a perfect day for a perfect little one year old girl.

Swim Lessons

On August 5th, Presley had her very first swimming lesson. We are in the beginning Mom and Tot class at the Nitro Swim Center (right down the road from our house) and she absolutely loves it. Her cousin, Logan, is also in the class with us. Ms. Bonnie is her teacher and Presley really like her. I was worried that Presley might be a little scared and not want to go to her, but she doesn't mind when Ms. Bonnie takes her from me and works with her. So far, we've worked on laying on our backs, getting out of the water, kicking, reaching out with our arms, jumping off the side, and going under water. The only thing that Presley is having trouble with is blowing out a breath, so we bought a jar of bubbles to help her learn how to do that. After she learns that, then we can work on taking a breath and holding it under water. I'm so excited, because we can do this year round since it's indoors and heated (the water is so warm, I'm pretty sure Presley just thinks she's in a big bathtub). Hopefully by next summer, Pres will be able to swim under water.

A kiss for doing such a great job!

Corn on the cob = YUMMY!!!

We like corn on the cob! I've started giving Presley a corn cob as an "appetizer" while I fix dinner. She LOVES it and has so much fun with it. I think it feels good on her teeth (speaking of, check out the two chompers she has coming in!).

Can't you just picture her saying "What the hell am I supposed to do with this?"

Looks like she figured it out...YUM!

Drunk on corn! That's what Daddy looks like after too much whiskey...which is also made of corn! I guess it really is true what they say, like father like daughter :)

My New Best Friend

Presley recently discovered that she likes balloons! We went to H-E-B the other day and one of the cashiers came over and handed Presley a blue balloon, and she loved it. I was so thankful because up until that point, all she wanted to play with was my wallet and I was getting really tired of bending down to pick up all the change that kept falling out. She just stared at the balloon the whole time we were in line, and all the way to the car, and all the way home.

When we got home, she figured out how much fun it was to play with the balloon!

I absolutely adore this picture of her walking down the hall to Daddy's office to show him her new balloon. She held on to that balloon all day. So sweet!

Update to the above post:
For those of you will insist on bringing a balloon with you every time you come to the house to recapture this super sweet moment...don't bother. We went to H-E-B the next week and got another balloon, but Presley was not as impressed this time. I was so excited to go get her a new balloon to play with, but she only played with it for about 5 minutes and then forgot all about it. I guess some things are only exciting once.
